This is an amazing opportunity to introduce your children or grand-children to this modern classic by watching it in the language of its origin. The story is set in a small island in Central Pacific where an old couple runs a small bed and breakfast. Their guests have been stranded on the island due to a terrible storm that has hit the island. The husband longs to go home while his wife is content with her life there. One night, they hear a strange noise outside their house and while going out to check it out, they encounter a new kind of species of dinosaur that have been brought there by some high-tech entrepreneurs so that they can be studied and some ideas can be taken from them to provide mankind with a solution to the ecological pollution on earth. The two dinosaurs who arrive at the island are rampaging and they kill all the people on the island. To add to their troubles, there is a second wave of dinosaurs on the way. The husband and wife help each other escape from the island through a boat with some plastic bags covering them. They drift away from the island under a heavy rain of dinosaur eggs. They reach a small uninhabited island where they fight off some dinosaur eggs using an iron bar which they found on the boat. In this new technology age, humans have come to fear technology for its tendency of creating more problems than solutions. The dinosaurs represent technology and they come to wreak havoc on the island, starting off with the animals and ending with the humans. However, if we look at it from a different perspective, we can see that technology has solved our problems and will continue to do so in the future.Having said this, I would like to convey one thing: if we cannot be tolerant of each other's differences, we will never find peace in this world. "The movie ends with a happy note that there is always hope for mankind."

This movie won several awards including the:"Best Foreign Language Film Award" at the 26th Golden Globe Awards held in 1997.

If you are an adventure-loving person, have a soft corner for nature, are looking for the next big family movie to watch with your kids or grandkids, or looking forward to watching something that can help you enjoy the weekend with your friends, this is the movie for you. The only thing that I could not appreciate about this excellent movie was its lack of consistency in establishing its setting. The director seems to have deliberately chosen to focus more on the human characters than the dinosaur characters. Despite that minor flaw, this is a must see movie for all dinosaur enthusiasts out there.

This movie will be worth watching once it arrives on BingeOn since it is an excellent family-friendly film.
